Approaching storm

Print. Original is acrylic on 12" x 24" canvas (private collection).

This is an impression of a lone aspen (poplar sp.) in an open field above the Fraser River, in the fall, growing as crooked as it wished. It was also a big year in central British Columbia for wasps and hornets...look for it. I love to use strong colours, with complements often placed side-by-side to vibrate your vision a bit. Compositionally, I've also placed elements in the piece that strive to move your eyes around the image (in this case, branches and leaves with diagonals and thrusts).

This artwork is available as a reproduction in various sizes and by different methods (paper, metal, etc.).
