Thank you for exploring my art.

I make art because of a compulsive urge to capture beauty and mystery as I see it. That sometimes means adding something unexpected, often without me realizing it until later. My art has been described as ‘contemporary realism,’ and that seems to work so far. Art is one of the most uplifting things that a human can experience, and I'm honoured to have the chance to pursue and share it.

I live in the central interior of British Columbia, Canada, on the edge of wilderness, and returned after some years away in cities. I've studied art technique and history for many years, and continue to devour it all from many spectacular and generous artists. Formal training has been obtained largely through workshop and private study with Samara Carrier, one of the most successful living female artists in Canada. She received deep training by several superb artists (the best known is Loren Adams, reputedly one of the great seascape painters of the late 20th century). Samara has taught for over 50 years, and her students have included a number of artists who went on to have successful careers. It was through Samara that I reconnected with art, and I greatly respect her chutzpah and ability.
